Logical recovery

Logical recovery is the process of reclaiming data from a hard drive that does not have any physical failures, but rather is not accessible due to a corrupt boot record, a corrupted or deleted partition, a formatted hard drive and or bad sectors. Common symptoms for the need of a logical recovery include: (a) computer crashes and displays operating system not found; (b) computer does not recognize the hard drive, (c) there are files that show a 0 byte value and cannot be opened. (d) The hard drive was accidentally formatted.

Physical recovery

Physical recovery is the process of retrieving data from a hard drive that has encountered physical damage. Common symptoms for physical damage to a hard drive include: (a) computer is not recognizing hard drive; (b) hard drive is not being recognized in the BIOS (c) hard drive is making unusual noises, such as a scratching, humming or clicking sound (d) hard drive is not receiving any power and is not spinning.
